Nat'l Cotton Council's Statement On Buying American Cotton Act

Source: National Cotton Council news release MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Cotton Council (NCC) strongly supports the Buying American Cotton Act introduced by Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS). This forward-thinking legislation is designed to enhance the demand for U.S.-grown cotton and U.S.-manufactured cotton products through tax incentives. Patrick Johnson, producer from Tunica, MS, and chairman of the NCC, stated, "The Buying American Cotton Act is transformative for our industry. By capitalizing on the traceability of U.S. cotton and the purchasing power of American consumers, this bill will drive the preference for domestically produced cotton and cotton products. The transferable tax credits will encourage businesses to opt for U.S. cotton, strengthening our agricultural sector and creating more jobs.
