On behalf of the North Dakota Soybean Processors and feedstock producers within the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association, North Dakota Farmers Union, and the Northern Canola Growers Association, we wish to thank Rep. Julie Fedorchak, R-N.D., for urging the Administration to support sound biofuel policies, crucial to our soybean and canola farmers and processors. As co-chair of the
Congressional Biofuels Caucus, Fedorchak recently explained, “American biofuel producers have an untapped ability to power the future of liquid fuel ... Advancing sound policy can unlock billions of dollars in savings at the pump and hundreds of thousands of added jobs for the American people.”
We wholeheartedly agree and thank Fedorchak for her advocacy.
Specifically, Fedorchak requested that the EPA mandate 5.25 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel to be blended into the U.S. transportation fuel supply each year. These mandates are known as RVOs, or Renewable Volume Obligations. According to the Clean Fuels Alliance America, a 100-million-gallon increase in biodiesel and renewable diesel production supports 3,200 jobs and $1 billion in economic activity. As of 2025, the RVO for biomass-based diesel stands at 3.35 billion gallons. Increasing it to 5.25 billion gallons — a 1.9-billion-gallon rise — would significantly boost industry growth, supporting local economies, communities and jobs.
Should the Administration approve the increase to RVOs, which is consistent with our industry capacity, our local farmers will certainly benefit from higher farm income, as well as market stability. As processing facilities, our employees and our businesses will benefit from increased domestic production. We extend our sincere thanks to Fedorchak for her steadfast support of our industry and North Dakota Soybean Processors since our opening. Her continued partnership and leadership make her a true advocate for North Dakota’s citizens and industries.
