Brookfield, WI -- For the 2025 Dealership of the Year (DOY), the judges chose Brandon, Man.,-based Mazergroup in the large operation category and Lowe & Young of Wooster, Ohio, in the small operation category. The recipients competed against a field of over 50 North American dealers nominated by dealers, employees, customers, DOY alumni and equipment suppliers. More importantly, they join an exclusive list of 38 previous recipients -- the Dealership of the Year Alumni Group.
By the Numbers Combined, Mazergroup and Lowe & Young accounted for nearly $520 million in total revenue, with combined revenue per employee coming in at more than $1.1 million. Together, they also produced an average parts and service absorption rate of 86% for the year. The average return on assets for these 2 dealers was 10.9%. For comparison sake, the North American Equipment Dealers Assn.'s 2024 Cost of Doing Business Study found an average absorption rate of 71.37% and an ROA of 10.2%.
Lowe & Young had revenues of over $43.5 million and an ROA of 11.4%, among the highest of all nominated dealers in either category. The dealership reported revenue growth each of the last 3 years. The single-store dealer achieved a 100% absorption rate and 37% market share in 2024. Lowe & Young had the second highest market share of all 2024 nominees.
Best-in-Class Dealerships
In addition to the Dealership of the Year recipients, Farm â??Equipment also recognized 2 dealerships as being "best-in-class."
In the larger operation category, the recipient is P&K Equipment with 30 locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa and Illinois and 715 employees. The company reported revenues of $721 million and a ROA of 3.8%. P&K's market share came in at 50% overall, and its parts and service absorption rate was 75%.
Also best-in-class in the large operation category is Messick's Farm â??Equipment, with 8 locations in Pennsylvania and 280 employees. The company reported revenues of $190 million and a ROA of 15%. Messick's market share came in at 35%, and its parts and service absorption rate was 99%.
