American Agri-Women Honors Congressmen Jim Costa And Derrick Van Orden As 2025 Champions Of Agriculture

The awards were presented during AAW's annual Fly-In and Congressional Reception held in Washington, D.C.. The Champion of Agriculture Award, established by AAW in 2010, honors members of Congress who demonstrate exceptional leadership in promoting American agriculture, defending rural values, and upholding the U.S. Constitution. Each year, the award recognizes two members of the U.S. House of Representatives for their outstanding contributions to ag policy. "This year's honorees exemplify the spirit of bipartisan advocacy for agriculture," said Rose Tryon, President of American Agri-Women. "Their steadfast leadership has made a lasting impact on farmers, ranchers, and rural families across the country." Congressman Jim Costa Representing California's 21st District, Congressman Costa has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2005 and is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee. A third-generation farmer from the San Joaquin Valley, Costa has played a central role in crafting three Farm Bills and advancing legislation on water infrastructure, food security, and rural development. Throughout his distinguished career in both state and federal government, Costa has remained a tireless champion of the Central Valley's agricultural economy. Congressman Derrick Van Orden Congressman Van Orden, elected to represent Wisconsin's 3rd District in 2022, brings a unique perspective to Congress as a retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief and a strong voice for fiscal responsibility and rural America.
